First Look: 2013 Chevrolet Spark
Chevrolet is really on the move in the subcompact segment that started in earnest with the launch of the Chevrolet Sonic and will be followed up with the soon to be available 2013 Chevrolet Spark.
While the Sonic has been a solid success for Chevrolet thus far, the Chevrolet Spark is even more compact shaving 14-inches off the Sonic hatch. The Spark is a hatchback-only vehicle that is taking dead aim at Smartfortwo, Scion iQ and Fiat 500.
The 2013 Chevrolet Spark has been selling internationally since 2008 but will go on sale for the first time in Canada a bit later this year. It will be interesting to see if Chevrolet can pull another subcompact winner out of their bag to pair with the recent sales success of the Sonic. GM hasn’t had the best track record in this segment, so the jury is still out on this one.
“Spark is for buyers who want much more than a ‘cute’ small car – they want a car that can be personalized, is dynamic and fashionable, and delivers a lot of value for the money,” said Chris Perry, vice president, global Chevrolet marketing and strategy. “Spark’s vibrant exterior and interior colours make a fashion statement, but it is also affordable, safe, maneuverable and very fuel-efficient.”
