Chrysler Repays Canadian Bailout Loans
Chrysler has taken a big step toward a full post-bailout recovery having now officially paid back U.S. and Canadian governments for their 2009 loans. The Canadian portion was worth $1.7 Billion and shared between federal and Ontario provincial monies.
Now the focus turns to Fiat and a potential stock IPO for Chrysler. Fiat will likely need to increase their ownership stake significantly beyond the current 46% threshold, and such a move would position Chrysler to make an attractive return to Wall Street in the future.
