Hydro-Québec and the city of Boucherville have partnered with Mitsubishi in a $4.5M electric vehicle trial that will see up to 50 Mitsubishi i-MiEVs tested under a variety of conditions, including winter driving. Hydro-Québec is also hoping to get valuable feedback on charging habits of drivers to assess the impact on the electrical grid. This is the largest electric vehicle trial in Canada to date.

The i-MiEV has high-capacity lithium-ion batteries that boast an impressive range of 120 km on a single charge. Using a standard 120 volt outlet it takes approx. 13 hours for a complete charge.

The Mitsubishi i-MiEV already sold in Japan is expected to hit the Canadian market sometime in 2011.
