Mercedes-Benz A-Class Compact Set For NY Auto Show Debut
You have to give Mercedes-Benz credit. Their A-Class vehicles were outdated, boxy looking and in desperate need for a makeover. Some automakers may have been content to do a little nip here, tuck there, a splash of fresh paint and label it a redesign. However, instead of a band-aid redesign, the stalwart German automaker has opted for creating a completely fresh design footprint and the early looks should be enough to make competitors like Audi, very very nervous in the upscale compact segment.
The all-new A-Class concept is scheduled for a North American debut at the New York Auto Show on April 22 – May 1. While the current A-Class is not sold in North America, there is growing hope that Mercedes-Benz will consider selling this latest iteration in the North American market but that is not guaranteed at this point. While there is no scheduled production date for the new A-Class, it is widely believed to go into European production no later than 2012-13.
