82% Canadian Ford Workers Ratify New Labour Deal
Over the weekend 82% of CAW members at Ford Canada voted to ratify a new collective labour agreement. Voting took place at all three Canadian plants in Brampton, Hamilton and Windsor where popular Ford models such as the Ford Edge, Ford Flex, Lincoln MKX, and Lincoln MKT are manufactured. According to CAW the breakdown of voting by classification was as follows:
Production – 81 per cent
Skilled Trades – 87 per cent
Office – 100 per cent
This is good news all around for the Canadian automotive industry, and it is expected General Motors ratification may only be a few days away. No agreement has been reached with CAW members at Chrysler but talks are expected to be ongoing.
