Cornwall, Ontario Mother Wins The ‘Nissan Innovation Challenge’
Congratulations to Cornwall, Ontario mother of two Kelly Ruest for winning Nissan Canada’s Innovation Challenge. Over 8000 initial contest submissions across Canada were received in the form of 140-character messages about what innovation means to you. From there the pool was narrowed to 200 semi-finalists who then had to create a short video to pitch their definition of innovation and how it could apply to a Nissan vehicle. Facebook fans were then asked to view the 200 video pitches and narrow the list down to 5 finalists. From there, each finalist was flown to Toronto to pitch Nissan executives in-person.
Kelly Ruest’s concept was declared the winner and she chose a brand new 2012 Nissan Murano Platinum Edition as her prize.
“At Nissan, we recognize that now more than ever, advertising is about listening and talking to customers and prospects to best understand their ideas and needs,” says Judy Wheeler, Director of Marketing for Nissan Canada. “Social media was a perfect way for us to accomplish this level of engagement. During this contest, we were delighted to discover just how enthusiastic Canadians are about Nissan’s exciting vehicle line-up, as seen through the thousands of creative responses we received to ‘define innovation’.”
